• Keep lubrication oil system warm by means of permanent separation to prevent an
accumulation of condensation products and sludge.
• Switch off ventilation for engine room only if required to make cooling-off of the engine more
difficult.
Before a long term operation stop (e.g. down time up to 4 weeks), heavy oil engines must be
changed over to distillate fuel several hours beforehand (see A3.06.07.nn).
In the case of down times of more than 4 weeks, the engine must be conserved. Climatic conditions
and storage time determine the scope of the measures (see A3.09.01.nn or A3.09.02.nn).
