5.15. Winter Maintenance and Storage
•
Machine should be stable
for maintenance, cleaning or repair
works, and tractor engine should be stopped. Remove 12V
power supply cable from the baler.
•
Re-
install all protective equipment after completing
maintenance work if they are removed.
•
Avoid skin contact with lubricants used in maintenance work.
•
Report to the nearest healthcare unit in case of injuries
related to hydraulic oil.
• Consult Authorized Service for lubricant amounts and types.
• Always use genuine Maschio Fienagione spare
proper operation of the machine and hydraulic system.
Before storing the baler for winter, clean inside out thoroughly. If high-pressure
cleaners are to be used, do not point water jet directly on shaft/pivot locations.
Grease/lubricate all lubrication points after cleaning the machine. Do not clean/wipe
lubricants flowing out of bearings. This grease sludge provides extra protection against
humidity. Remove drive chains and flush with crude oil (do not use other solvents). Also
check for chain and chain gear wear. Lubricate the chains after cleaning.
Check if all moving parts (such as gears and tensioning parts) are easily functioning or
not. Remove and clean if necessary, re-lubricate and re-install. Replace if necessary. Only
use genuine Maschio Fienagione spare parts.
Disassemble PTO shaft if necessary. Grease internal and protective tubes. Apply
grease to lubrication nipple on the cardan joint and bearing rings on the protective tubes.
Store the baler at a dry place away from artificial fertilizers and animal barns. Repair
damaged paint work, and cover non-painted areas completely using anti-corrosion agent.
Lift the baler using a jack to prevent wheel damage. (Wheels can be damaged if baler
is left in the same position for extended periods.). Protect the wheels against external factors.
(Oil, grease, direct sun light)
Complete necessary repair works immediately after harvest season. Make a list of all
required spare parts. Systematic care will reduce the work load of Maschio Fienagione
service, and you can be sure of a good machine operation at the beginning of new season.
Store the machine at a dry and sheltered place, and chock the wheels.
