4.5. Connecting the Shaft
PTO is generally located at the rear bottom center of the tractors. It conveys the
motion to PTO driven machinery via clockwise rotation. Revolutions of PTO shaft are 540,
750 or 1000 rpm. PTO shaft diameter is 34,9 mm, and there are 6 groove channels on the
shaft. PTO shaft diameter in large tractors is 41.7mm, and they have higher number of
groove channels. PTO shaft revolution for this type of tractors is 1000 rpm. Some tractor
PTOs may be capable of both revolutions whereas others may be equipped with two
individual PTO shafts. PTO shaft and groove channels are illustrated in Figure 1.

PITAGORA INLINE baler has an articulated shaft. The motion taken from PTO shaft
via articulated shaft is transmitted to baler. Additionally, power transmission between tractor
and machine is not interrupted on rough terrain or in turning positions.
Articulated shaft is constituted of two parts with one inserted in the other (Figure 2).
Articulated shaft is constituted of safety pin (1), yoke (2) and cardan spider (3), articulation
enclosure (4), grease nipple (5), safety chain (6), shaft pipes (7), shaft pipe enclosure (8).
