Preventive Maintenance
3. Rotate the props (Figure 52, Item 1) forward and rest it on
the pin (Figure 52, Item 2) on the body.

4. Start the chassis engine and slowly begin raising the
tailgate.
5. Continue raising the tailgate until the props drop over the
pin on the body.
6. Disable the refuse vehicle and shut the chassis engine
off.
7. Perform your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedure.
If your company does not have a Lockout/Tagout
procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146
Conned Space as appropriate.
CAUTION
Do not POWER DOWN the tailgate against
the props.
Damage may occur to the props.
8. Turn ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start
engine. Lower the tailgate until the props (Figure 53, Item
1) are fully seated against the pin (Figure 53, Item 2) on
the body.
