GENERAL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
3.5 VM600 1U 19" rack backplane (ABE056)
The VM600 MPS using a 1U 19" slimline rack (ABE056) with a custom-designed backplane
contains a similar version of the backplane currently used with the standard 19" 6U (ABE04x)
rack described in 3.4 VM600 6U 19" rack backplane (ABE04x).
This backplane consists of the following:
VME power supply (P1)
discrete bus on the back of P1 (P3)
P2 and P4 through connections.
The different types of connectors used are:
DIN 41612 connector, 96 male and female straight poles, press fit
Connectors: quality level 2; mechanical life 400 connection cycles.
The section view of the backplane in Figure 3-9 shows:
The connections of the P3 port
The connections between P2 and P4
The connections between the power supply connectors and backplane.
