Configuring RS-485 terminations for RS, A and B serial communications

NOTE: In Figure 13-12:
• _x refers to _A or _B. For example, J28_x refers to J28_A used to help configure
group ‘A’ communications and refers to J28_B used to help configure group ‘B’
communications.
• J31_x to J38_x are used to configure/select RS-485 terminations for group ‘A’ or
group ‘B’ as, required.
13.4.3 RS-485 terminations for A and B serial communications – AIM104-COM4
or equivalent
For the AIM104-COM4 or equivalent serial communications module, jumpers on the serial
communications module are used to configure RS-485 terminations.
Each RS-485 differential pair can be terminated in one of six different ways, as shown in
Figure 13-11.
For half-duplex RS-485 (2-wire), only jumpers LK15 and LK16 need to be configured. These
groups should be configured identically.
For full-duplex RS-485 (4-wire), jumper groups LK13 and LK15, and LK14 and LK16 must be
configured identically.
