Inputs and outputs
MPC4 / IOC4T CARD PAIR
4.4.4 DC outputs
Four DC outputs (DC OUT 1, DC OUT 2, DC OUT 3 and DC OUT 4) are available on the
IOC4T card. These can output fully-processed values from single channels or dual-channels.
Jumpers on the IOC4T card allow each of the DC outputs to be individually set to provide a
current-based or a voltage-based signal, that is, the specified DC output signal range can be
either 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V. Outputs are configured using the VM600 MPSx software.
For example, a 4 to 20 mA DC output corresponding to a 0 to 500 µm
input signal (processed
value).
For current outputs, the DC output is actually driven in a slightly wider 2 to 23 mA range,
proportional to the configured input signal. More specifically, if the input signal goes outside
the 4 to 20 mA signal range, the analog output is not limited to 4 or 20 mA and is driven in the
2 to 23 mA signal range.
For example, if a 0 to 500 µm
signal actually goes from −25 to 525 µm, the output signal
should remain linear outside of the specified DC output signal range (up to the circuitry limits
of approximately 0 to 23 mA or −2 to 11 V).
