6. Communicate with PC
Supports communication with a computer via a USB port or a LAN port. Using the
Waveform Editor software installed on the computer, the signal generator can be
operated on the computer to control the output of the signal generator.
Here's how to connect to a computer. First, install the Waveform Editor software on
the CD-ROM on your computer. Then, there are several connection options to choose
from.
Using USB Port
(1) Set the USB device protocol type of the signal generator: Press Utility →
I/O Setup → USBDEV, switch to PC.
(2) Connection: Connect the USB Device interface at the rear panel of the signal
generator to the USB interface of the computer with a USB cable.
(3) Install the driver: Run Waveform Editor software on the computer, press F1 to
view the built-in help documentation. Follow the instructions to install the
driver. The path of the driver is the USBDRV folder in the directory where the
Waveform Editor communication software is located, such as "C:\Program Files
(x86)\DS_Wave\Waveform Editor\USBDRV".
In the event that the USB driver is not automatically installed by the Windows
system, the USB driver may need to be manually installed. The following steps
can be used to install the driver. Following this the PC software programs will
recognise the waveform generator and run normally.
1.Connect the Waveform generator to the computer using the supplied USB
cable andverify that the device is powered on.
2.Open the Window Device Manager by right clicking on 'My Computer' icon
thenselecting 'Manage' from the left hand column.
3.Click on 'Device Manager' and the list of devices will display on the right
handpanel.
4.Find the USB device. It may be listed as "Unknown Device" possibly in
"Otherdevices" section marked with a yellow exclamation icon.
5.Right click the USB device and select 'Update Driver Software'
6.In the next screen select 'Browse my computer for driver software'
7.Browse to the file location where you previously installed the waveform
generator software.
8.Click on the folder "USBDRV" then choose the option for which version
ofWindows operating system you are using.
9.Click next and the USB driver should install.
10.When the operation is complete click 'Close'
11.In Device Manager the waveform generator should now be named correctly.
12.Close Device Manager.
