The 951XD/952XD’s DGPS signal-quality information is avail-
able either from the internal differential receiver or from an
optional external Northstar differential receiver. Other brands
of differential receivers may supply DGPS corrections, but omit
the additional signal information shown on the unit’s screen.
Press the menu key to return to the GPS POSITION
screen.
Using loran
If you have a loran receiver connected to your unit, you can
navigate using loran coordinates as well as GPS. Just select
loran as the source of navigation data, as described below, and
you’re on your way.
Selecting loran
To display loran TD coordinates from a loran receiver inter-
faced to the unit, first select loran as the navigation source, as
described below.
1. Press the  key until the USER CUSTOMIZATION
screen is displayed.
2. Press the  menu key. The NAVIGA-
TION SOURCE field is designated by the cursor arrow.
TOO FEW CORRECTIONS
DGPS is off because not enough satellites with corrections are
available.
POOR BCN DOPS
DGPS is off because the satellites with corrections have poor
geometry (DOPS is an acronym for Dilution Of Precision).
OLD CORRECTIONS
DGPS is on, but the corrections in use are older than the timeout
set in the receiver options (see “Changing DGPS data time-out” on
page 167).
DGPS IN USE/OK
DGPS is on and the corrections are current.
UNKNOWN
An unknown status code has been received from the GPS sensor.
