2.7 Wiring
This section provides information on the power supply and the operating voltage, as well as the
DCD output and the RS232C cables. The connection to the telephone line will also be
explained.
2.7.1 Power Supply and Operating Voltage
Connecting the Power Supply
The FP Modem-EU will turn on as soon as the power supply has been connected.
• When connecting the power supply make sure the polarity (+/-) is correct.
• The FP Modem-EU and the PLC have to be supplied by THE SAME power
supply unit.
• If power is supplied, the green POWER LED will be ON.

• Framing Ground (FG) must be connected.
• Please read the important notes (see "
Important Notes" on page 16).
• Please also read the "FP Modem-EU Leaflet" sheet supplied with the FP
Modem-EU.
Disturbances of the Operating Voltage
The range of the operating voltage in which the modem functions safely is from 16.6 up to 26.4V
DC. If the operating voltage falls below the limit, a RESET is released in the modem that is
maintained until the operating voltage is restored. This ensures that malfunctions due to too low
operating voltages are excluded. In this case and if the operating voltage breaks down entirely
the modem hangs up. Data transmission has to be repeated after returning to the operating
state.
