FP Modem-EU Technical Manual
2.7 Wiring
Overvoltage can damage the product!
Exceeding the limit of the range of the operating voltage can lead
to the destruction of the product and therefore it has to be
avoided under all circumstances.
2.7.2 DCD (Data Carrier Detect) Output
The DCD output is an ideal method for monitoring the line connect status. The attached
controller can detect the DCD state via this 24V compatible output connected to a digital input.
That way the PLC can detect if an active data communication connection was terminated by the
distant modem. To save yourself time programming, you can obtain the FPWIN Pro library
"Modem" (see "
Product Names and Numbers" on page 4).
The data carrier detect signal (DCD) (signal as soon as the connection is established) is output
via an optocoupler to the Phoenix clamp in the middle of the housing (front side).
100mA is the maximum power allowed, i.e. the maximum power loss is limited to 100mW! If you
want to connect a relay circuit, make sure a surge absorber is included.
