FP Modem-EU Technical Manual
4.2.1 Enable Multipoint Mode with DIP Switches
Multipoint operation makes it possible to run multiple modems on a two-wire cable network.
To activate the multipoint operation mode, set up the FP Modem-EU as follows:
DIP1 DIP2 DIP3
PC/RTS mode
OFF ON OFF
PLC mode
OFF ON ON
Transparent mode (V1.21)
(S95=3 set by DIP1)
ON ON ON
Transparent mode (V1.21)
(only if S95 not zero)
OFF ON ON
DIP switch 4 is used to select the baud rate of the RS232C interface:
DIP4 = ON
Fixed baud rate
DIP4 = OFF
Selectable baud rate
PC/RTS mode
1200 bps 8o1
1200 bps with last format used in
command mode
PLC mode
(before V1.2)
1200 bps 8o1

19200 bps 8o1

command mode
Transparent mode
(V1.21)
19200 bps 8o1

command mode
*8o1 stands for: 8 data bits, odd parity, 1 stop bit
Selectable baud rate:
To select a setting other than with DIP switch 4=ON, carry out the following procedure:
1. Set all DIP switches to OFF (to enter the dial-up, command mode)
2. Use a terminal (program) which is set to the desired RS232C baud rate and
format
3. Power up the modem and enter AT (or AT&F to recall the factory settings)
The modem should respond with OK.
If you optionally want to disable the automatic baud rate detection (command
mode), you should use the “AT*W=baud, data, parity, stop” command (see
"
Command Tables" on page 68).
4. Enter AT&W to save the settings
