3.12 Disconnection with the Break Signal
The \B command sends a signal in order to terminate the connection (break signal) to the
remote modem. If you have established a normal (i.e. non-MNP) connection, enter a number
after this command. The number you entered determines how long your modem should send
the break signal. The number you entered is multiplied by 100 milliseconds. With a RELIABLE
connection (MNP) you do not need to enter a number after this command. For these kinds of
connections the break always lasts for 300 milliseconds (factory setting = 3).
Definition of the Break Signal
The \K command offers three possibilities to process the break signal:
• Immediate abortion of the connection with data loss: the buffer memory is deleted and
the break signal is transferred immediately.
• Immediate abortion of the connection: the break signal is transferred immediately.
• Attached abortion of the connection: the break signal is transferred in sequence with the
data in the buffer memory.
For a list of all available options for the \K command, please refer to the AT command table (see
"
Command Tables" on page 68).
The FP Modem-EU V1.2 uses the default setting AT\K6. This setting ignores break signals and
allows transmission of binary zero 8-bit data with even parity in leased line mode. This is
especially useful for IEC 60870-5-101 data communication.
