FP Modem-EU Technical Manual
5.1 Command Tables
Command  Description
\Nn
n=0 NORMAL mode: automatic adjustment of the line transmission speed, no error correction, no
data compression
n=1 DIRECT mode: command sets modem to direct data connection, RS232C baud rate = line
transmission speed (error correction is switched off)
Caution!
As soon as the connection is established the RS232C baud rate is automatically adjusted
to the CONNECT baud rate!

n=2 AUTO-RELIABLE mode: modem hangs up if the remote modem does not allow error
correction, error correction first after LAPM, then after MNP, data compression according to
V.42bis or MNP5
n=3 AUTO-RELIABLE mode: automatic selection of the error correction method, if no
remote station allows error correction, NORMAL mode is set, error correction method
according to V.42 or MNP, data compression according to V.42bis or MNP5

n=4 RELIABLE mode: Error correction only according to LAPM, otherwise the modem aborts the
connection, data compression according to V.42bis
n=5 RELIABLE mode: Error correction only possible according to MNP, otherwise the modem
aborts the connection, data compression according to MNP5
n=6 AUTO-RELIABLE mode: Automatic selection of the error correction procedure. If the remote
modem does not allow MNP error correction, NORMAL mode is set. Data compression according
to MNP5

\P
Password input or display, identical with AT*P (see "Password Protection and Call Back Function"
on page 39)
\Tn
Sets the inactivity timer in register S30: n=0...90 in minute resolution
Sets the duration of the connection in minutes, during which the modem waits, as long as no data
are being received or sent before the connection is aborted. In the error correction mode
transmitted and received characters set back the timer. In other modes transferred data set back
the timer. Resolution: 1 Minute

%Bn
n=0 after 11 erroneous attempts to dial the modem reports "SYSTEM SUSPEND" and no further
dial attempt can be carried out. The modem has to be reset manually (Reset ATZ or Switch
ON/OFF). The waiting period before an error detection can be set in register S7 (standard
setting = 45 seconds)
n=1 after an erroneous dialing attempt you have to wait for 30 seconds. The message
"DELAYED" is reported, the dialing attempt is aborted and the dialing command has to be
entered anew

%Cn
n=0 deactivate data compression

n=1 enable data compression: Operation for transmission procedures MNP5 and V.42bis

%En
n=0 Monitoring of the quality of the telephone line, autoretrain is disabled
Attention:
This setting can cause problems in case of bad telephone lines or short term
interferences. It is best to leave %E at 1!
n=1 Monitoring of the quality of the telephone line, autoretrain enabled

%Fn
n=0 full duplex

n=3 only half duplex. For the V.23 mode (ATF3)

%Gn
n=0 deactivate CLIP decoder (V1.2)

n=1 activate CLIP decoder display with RING
n=3 activate selective call acceptance of allowed caller telephone numbers stored in &Z1 and &Z2
(Info.: S0 register is disabled)

%Kn
n=0 enable the aborting of the connection handshake phase by a character at the RS232C
n=1 deactivate the aborting of the handshake phase by a character at the RS232C
*F
Sets all possible settings (also the S register) back to the factory setting
After having entered an AT*F you have to wait for 5 seconds before entering the next command
