Light Leak Test
1. Prepare the camera to take a picture. Mount film holder with dark slide onto the camera body.
Load a 3000 speed (Type 107) film pack into film holder. Do not cock or release shutter.
2. Illuminate camera all around for one minute, with light from a 150 Watt lamp no closer than
three (3) feet from the camera. Do not shine light directly into the exit door.
3. Remove unexposed film in normal manner, as if you had just taken a picture. Inspect film for
light leaks. Check that results are not due to old or defective film pack.
4. Remove dark slide. Again, illuminate camera with light for one minute. This time, concentrate
on area around slot for dark slide. Remove second unexposed film frame.
5. Both frames should be totally black. If any spots, lines, or fogging are observed on the film,
attempt to isolate leak area, by substitution of film holder or lens and/or covering suspected
area with opaque black tape.
