d. Correcting Tracking: If error exceeds these limits, an adjustment is required. However,
perform aiming and framing target tests before making adjustment. Also verify any gross
discrepancies before adjusting. Leave pencil marks on the distance scale, so infinity
tracking error can be compared to near distance tracking error.
Before making an adjustment to the Model 600SE camera, you must compare the
collimation tracking error measured sighting through each interchangeable lens. This
comparison will avoid needless adjusting back and forth of the three lenses and viewfinder.
In most instances, a single adjustment of the infinity range screw will be sufficient to bring
the tracking discrepancies of all three lenses within allowable limits.
Aiming and Framing Target Test
1. Mount the reporter aiming and framing target No. ECR-12261, on a wall, as shown in
Figure 5-8.

2. Mount a vertical strip of black tape 3/4 inch (2cm) wide by 6 inches (16cm) long to the target,
above the center square.
Find the center of the framing target. (Use long straight edge or stretch string across the
diagonals of the inside of the framing rectangle, to find center.) Use a tack to mount the
aiming circle ACR-12438 at the center of the target.
3. Move tripod a couple of inches from the target. Adjust and lock height of tripod so that the
center of the lens is at same height as the center of the aiming circle Figure 5-9).
