RF/VF Parallax and Lens Collimation Tests
The purpose of parallax and collimation tests is to assure that near and infinity images seen
through the camera can be focused onto film loaded into the camera. Therefore, you must
measure how closely "the rangefinder image coincidence" tracks " the lens sharpest focus", as
described in the following procedures; Infinity-Tube Tracking Test, and Near-Distance Tracking
Test.
The interchangeable lenses of the Model 600SE camera have different rangefinder tracking
discrepancy allowances. All three lenses (75mm, 127mm, and 150mm) should be tested before
decisions about adjustments are made.
Collimation and parallax tests are subject to error due to the observer's eyesight and sighting
ability. A second observer should confirm results before major adjustments are made.
Topside Test
1. Plug in the power cord of collimator No. 11431 to a 110 vac electric outlet. Turn the line switch
to ON. Turn the function switch to INF (infinity).
2. Mount a camera on a tripod. Position it in front of the collimator as shown in Figure 5-1.
