DIESEL INJECTION
Diesel injector fuel return rail: Removal - Refitting

a Lubricate the unions of the diesel injector fuel return
rail using SILICONE-FREE LUBRICANT (see Ve-
hicle: Parts and ingredients for the repairwork)
(04B, Consumables - Products) so that the seals are
completely covered with product.
a Position the unions of the diesel injector fuel return
rail in front of the opening of each diesel injector,
starting with injector number 4 (timing end).
a Clip the unions of the diesel injector fuel return rail
onto the opening of each diesel injector, starting with
injector number 4 (timing end).
a Remove the blanking plugs from:
-the opening of the diesel injector fuel return rail,
-the high pressure pump opening.
a Connect the diesel injector fuel return rail to the high
pressure pump.
a Remove the blanking plugs from:
-the opening of the diesel injector fuel return rail,
-the diesel return pipe opening.
a Connect:
-the diesel fuel return pipe to the diesel injector fuel
return rail,
-the fuel temperature sensor connector.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Clip the diesel injector wiring onto the rocker cover.
a Refit the injector rail protector cover.
a Clip the injector rail protector cover into place.
a Refit the turbocharger air outlet pipe (see 12B, Tur-
bocharging, Intercooler air inlet pipe: Removal -
Refitting, page 12B-41) .
a Fit the intercooler air outlet pipe.
a Connect the intercooler air outlet pipe on the damper
valve.
a Torque tighten the intercooler air outlet pipe clip
on the damper valve (5.5 N.m).
a Clip the turbocharger pressure sensor wiring onto
the intercooler air outlet pipe.
a Connect the turbocharger pressure sensor connec-
tor.
a Clip the wiring for the damper valve onto the injector
rail protector cover plate.
a Connect:
- the camshaft position sensor connector,
- the connector to the damper flap.
a Refit the engine cover.
a Connect the battery (see Battery : Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
a Check that there are no diesel leaks.
Note:
Check that the fuel return rail unions are cor-
rectly clipped in place.
