COOLING
Water pump: Removal - Refitting

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove:
-the coolant pump bolts (4) ,
-the coolant pump,
-the coolant pump seal.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a parts always to be replaced: Coolant pump seal
(10,06,01,21).
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and ingredients for the repairwork) (04B, Consu-
mables - Products) to clean and degrease:
-the coolant pump sealing face if it is to be reused,
-the cylinder block gasket face.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
-a new coolant pump seal,
- the coolant pump,
- the bolts (2) and (5) of the coolant pump.
a Apply one or two drops of FRENETANCHE (see
Vehicle: Parts and ingredients for the repai-
rwork) (04B, Consumables - Products) to the coo-
lant pump bolt (3) .
a Refit:
- the bolt (3) of the coolant pump,
- the bolts (1) and (4) of the coolant pump.
a Torque tighten in order the coolant pump bolts (10
N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit the inner cover.
a Fit the alternator in place.
a Refit the alternator upper bolt.
a Tighten to torque:
- the alternator lower bolt (25 N.m),
- the alternator upper bolt (25 N.m).
a Refit:
- the timing belt (see 11A, Top and front of engine,
Timing belt: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-29) ,

IMPORTANT
Wear goggles with side protectors for this opera-
tion.
WARNING
Do not scrape the joint faces of the aluminium,
any damage caused to the joint face will result in
a risk of leaks.
