EXHAUST
Catalytic converter: Removal - Refitting

a Degrease the bearing faces of the catalytic conver-
ter using SURFACE CLEANER and clean cloths
(see Vehicle: Parts and ingredients for the repai-
rwork) (04B, Consumables - Products).
a parts always to be replaced: ring between ex-
haust manifold and catalytic converter (10,08,02,
20).
a Position a new after sales sleeve on the catalytic
converter (see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precau-
tions for repair, page 19B-12) .
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
-a new ring between the exhaust manifold and the
catalytic converter,
-the catalytic converter,
-the exhaust flange bolts.
a Tighten the sleeve bolts while guiding the exhaust
pipe to ensure correct alignment.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit:
-the downstream oxygen sensor (see 17B, Petrol
injection, Oxygen sensors: Removal - Refitting,
page 17B-1) ,
-the engine undertray.
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
a Check:
- that all the exhaust pipe heat shields are in place
and properly attached.
- that there is no contact with the underbody.
a Start the vehicle.
a Check that there are no leaks and deal with them if
necessary.

IMPORTANT
Position the « nut and bolt securing the sleeve »
assembly so that the assembly cannot come into
contact with the underbody.
