EXHAUST
Connector pipe: Removal - Refitting

-the presence and correct positioning of all the ex-
haust pipe heat shields.
a Start the vehicle.
a Check that there are no leaks and deal with them if
necessary.
REMOVING THE EXHAUST DOWNPIPE
I - PREPARATION OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF
THE EXHAUST DOWNPIPE
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a Cut the exhaust system (see Vehicle: Precautions
for repair) in the cutting zone provided for this
purpose on either side of the connecting pipe (see
19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Parts and consumables
for the repair work, page 19B-1) .
II - EXHAUST DOWNPIPE REMOVAL OPERATION
a Remove:
-the exhaust downpipe bolts (3) from the catalytic
converter,
-the sealing ring of the catalytic converter exhaust
flange,
-the exhaust downpipe.
REFITTING THE EXHAUST DOWNPIPE
I - PREPARATION OPERATION FOR REFITTING
THE EXHAUST DOWNPIPE
a Always replace the catalytic converter exhaust flan-
ge sealing ring.
a Clean the bearing face of the exhaust downpipe
using SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and ingredients for the repairwork) (04B, Consu-
mables - Products).
II - EXHAUST DOWNPIPE REFITTING OPERATION
a Refit:
- the new sealing ring of the catalytic converter ex-
haust flange,
- the exhaust downpipe.
a Fit the exhaust downpipe bolts onto the catalytic
converter, without tightening.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a
a Fit a new After-Sales sleeve (see 19B, Exhaust, Ex-
haust: Precautions for repair, page 19B-12) .
a Tighten the exhaust downpipe bolts on the catalytic
converter.
a Check:
- that there is no contact with the underbody,
- the presence and correct positioning of all the ex-
haust pipe heat shields.

IMPORTANT
Position the « nut and bolt securing the sleeve »
assembly so that the assembly cannot come into
contact with the underbody.
