The sort mode timing chart shows the operation of each
electrical component in the finisher when 1 set of A4
size copies is made from 2 originals in the sort (shift tray
ON) and RDH modes.
*1
The finisher ON signal is generated from the copier
when the copier main motor starts turning after the Start
key is pressed. The shift tray moves up until the stack
height sensor 2 turns on, then it moves down until the
sensor turns off again. The shift tray position becomes
slightly above the home position. (The shift tray slightly
moves down to return to its home position when the
copy process finishes. This is to prevent the shift tray
positioning roller from interfering with the removal of the
copy stack.)
As the shift tray is stopped just when the stack height
sensor 2 (the lower one) turns off, the sensor will turn on
soon if the copy stack on the shift tray grows during a
continuous copy run. If the sensor remains ON for 3
seconds while copying, the shift tray is lowered for 50
milliseconds.
When the shift tray rise mode is selected by turning on
DIP switch 101-1 on the finisher control PCB, the shift
tray moves up if the copy stack is removed from the tray
and the stack height sensor 1 (the upper one) is
activated while copying. It moves up until the stack
height sensor 2 is activated.
*2
The exit drive motor reduces its speed to ensure proper
copy stacking on the shift tray when copies are delivered.
*3
The shift tray moves down until the stack height sensor
1 (the upper one) turns on, then it moves up until the
sensor turns off. The shift tray stops at the home
position.
