9180 Electrolyte Analyzer 7 Measurement
Measuring procedure
As soon as READY will be displayed, the analyzer is ready for measurements. Urine
samples, diluted with Urine Diluent, are analyzed in the urine mode. To enter this
mode:
o Press NO until QC/STD/DIALYSATE/URINE SAMPLE? is displayed. Press
YES.
o Press NO until Urine Sample? is displayed. Press YES and follow the
instructions.
o After the analysis is finished, the analyzer will display and print out the results.
CAUTION
Personal injury due to contact with the paper tear bar
A paper tear bar is located on the front panel of the analyzer, where reports are printed
out. Contact with the tear bar may result in personal injury.
r When tearing off reports, leave enough space between your hand and the analyzer.

If the result of the urine sample is given with , the K

value of the sample is higher
than 60 mmol/L, and outside the measurement range of the analyzer. The
measurement has to be repeated using the following procedure:
o Record the Na
+
value (and Cl
-
, if activated) of the first urine measurement.
o Dilute the diluted urine (already diluted 1:2 with Urine Diluent) with distilled
water in a ratio of 1:1 (e.g. 1 mL of diluted urine and 1 mL distilled water).
o Thoroughly mix the sample.
o Run a second urine measurement with the twice-diluted urine sample.
o Ignore the Na
+
value (and Cl
-
, if activated).
o Multiply the K
+
value by 2 and record its value
