Service functions
Service functions
The 9180 Electrolyte Analyzer has various built-in functions that you can access to
evaluate the performance of the instrument. Starting at the READY display, press
NO until SERVICE_FUNCTIONS? is displayed, and then press YES.
Testing the electrodes
The voltage levels of the electrodes can be tested by using standard solutions or an
external sample.
o Press NO until Test Electrodes? is displayed.
o Press YES and the prompt Test Standard A? will be displayed.
o Write down these values.
o Press YES and the electrode voltages will be displayed.
o To exit this function, press NO.
o The prompt Test Standard B? will be displayed.
o Write down these values.
o Press YES and the electrode voltages will be displayed.
o To exit this function, press NO.
o The prompt Test Standard C? will be displayed.
o Write down these values.
o Press YES and the electrode voltages will be displayed.
o Compare the measured values to the following table:

If the voltage difference A-B or A-C is outside the allowed difference, perform daily
maintenance (see Daily maintenance (p. 133)) or replace the electrode.
o After testing the electrodes with standard solutions, the
9180 Electrolyte Analyzer will prompt Test External Sample?. Press YES.
o The instrument will prompt Open Sample Door Introduce Sample.
o After introducing the sample, the analyzer will display Thank you! shortly,
followed by the electrode voltages.
o Check for stable readings.
o Press NO to exit. The prompt Remain in Test Electrodes? will appear.
o Press NO to exit or to perform other service functions.
