Replacing the mains fuse
NOTICE
Operating the analyzer using incorrect fuses may result in damage to the analyzer
Operating the analyzer using incorrect fuses may cause considerable overheating on the
analyzer, which may lead to a fire.
r Only replace the mains fuses with the 1.6 A / 250 VAC slow blow fuses in your fuse set
delivered with the 9180 Electrolyte Analyzer.
r If your mains fuses are blown, immediately re-order these fuses with your Roche
representative. Make sure to always keep two extra 1.6 A / 250 VAC slow blow fuses
with your other 9180 Electrolyte Analyzer accessories and consumables.
p To replace the mains fuse

Enter the analyzer into Standby mode.
u Standby mode (p. 32)

Press the power switch on the back of the analyzer to the OFF (O) position.

Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet. Next, disconnect the power
cord from the power receptacle on the back of the unit.

Remove the fuse box from the analyzer. The fuse box is located immediately
above the power switch. To remove the fuse box, disengage the clip on the bottom
of the fuse box cover using a screwdriver. Simultaneously, move the screwdriver
towards you until the fuse box is free.

Remove the two fuses from the fuse holder.
CAUTION
Contact with the mains fuses in the fuse holder may cause burns
Removing the mains fuses from the fuse holder immediately after the analyzer has
been in operation may lead to burns.
r Wait about 5 minutes for the mains fuses to cool down before removing the fuses
from the fuse holder.

Inspect the removed fuses to look for signs of a blown fuse.
Typical signs that one of the mains fuses is blown are:
o A broken wire on the inside of the fuse
o Dark brown or black residue on the glass cover of the fuse
If one of the removed fuses is blown, proceed with this procedure.
If one of the removed fuses is not blown, contact your Roche Service
representative. Do not operate the analyzer until instructed to do so by your
Roche Service representative.

Replace the blown fuse with one of the two 1.6 A / 250 VAC slow blow fuses in
your fuse set.

Insert the fuse box into the analyzer. Press the fuse box firmly until the clip
engages.

Connect the power cord into the power receptacle. Then, connect the power cord
into the electrical outlet.

Press the power switch to the ON (I) position.
