2.0 port may not be enough to support both fast charging and scanner operation simultaneously.
Do not use a USB hub to charge your scanner unless the hub can provide sufficient power.
Please charge the imager for at least 4 hours for battery and 50 minutes for UltraCap
TM
via power supply unit
prior to initial use.
1.5.5 Charging through Cradle with Your Own Power Supply Unit
If you would like to use your own power supply unit (PSU), make sure it can adequately support both fast
charging and scanning operation at the same time.
1. Connect the Smart Cradle to your PSU.
2. Dock the scanner in the Cradle for charging. When the scanner is fully charged, its status indicator will turn
into a steady green (otherwise, it will be a steady red).
Suggestions on choosing a suitable PSU
There are two considerations relating to the power output: Voltage and Current.
The PSU should support 5V, 2A output.
If unable to find an exact match, you may try a PSU with lower voltage and higher current.
1.5.6 Industrial fieldbus
The IDM Hand-held scanners can be connected to industrial fieldbuses (such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Ethernet
TCP/IP, DeviceNet, etc.) via SICK connection modules and an adapter cable. The adapter cable includes a voltage
converter from DC 24 to 5 V for the voltage supply of the hand-held scanner, eliminating the need of a separate
power supply.
