Data Lock Level
The “Data Lock Level” represents a thickness gauge receive amplitude, below which the meter will not
perform a wall thickness measurement. When the thickness gauge transducer is pressed against a
pipe wall, the amplitude level rises above this level and the computer automatically measures the wall
thickness. When the transducer is removed from the pipe wall, the amplitude should fall below this
level and the previous thickness reading will become “locked” on the screen until the next wall reading.
If the amplitude does not fall below the lock level, the previous reading will remain locked and the meter
will not automatically reset for the next wall thickness reading.
The default setting of the “Data Lock Level” should provide problem free wall thickness measurement
on most pipe materials. However, if the meter fails to operate as described above, refer to the trouble-
shooting guide below.
Reset Defaults: Resets “Zero Set”, “Vpl” and “Data Lock Level” back to the factory default setting.

Troubleshooting Guide
Condition Possible Cause/Remedy
Thickness measurement occurs before plac-
ing the transducer on the pipe wall.
Thickness measurement will not occur.
Apply couplant to the pipe instead of
the transducer.
Increase Data Lock Level gradually un-
til condition ceases.
Try pressing the [CLR] key. If the meter
then performs a thickness measure-
ment, the Data Lock Level needs to be
increased.
If pressing [CLR] does not force a mea-
surement, then Data Lock Level needs
to be decreased.
