Section 1
1.10 BATTERY OPERATION
This section describes the battery sub-systems for the 1010P portable family. All 1010P port-
able systems include battery chargers that operate from an AC voltage source. We strongly recom-
mend that you “form” and charge the battery before operating the system for the first time (see 1.10.2).
1.10.1 THE CHARGE INDICATOR LED
System 1010P includes a battery status indicator to show the status of its internal battery and charging
circuits. The indicator LED color switches between red or green based upon the current operation:

NOTES:
1. A [LOBAT] flag appears on the 1010P graphic screen when the battery’s remaining operating time
is less than 20 minutes (approximately).
2. If the system detects that the voltage output of both the internal battery and external power input is
less than 10 volts, it turns off power automatically to avoid the possibility of power supply damage
and/or loss of operating data.
3. Turning the system power on with the charger connected terminates the rapid charge cycle. This
limits the flow computer power consumption to avoid excess heat generation.
4. A rapid charge cycle can only occur if:
z The charger is connected
z The system is OFF.
z Charge controller determines that the pre-programmed battery voltage, battery temperature,
and the time of charge conditions are satisfactory for fast charging.
