DUAL RS-232/2120 COMMUNICATION BOARD (565004)
Features and Functions
Allows the 4100 to communicate with a 2120 via the 2120 COMM lines (using Port 1) or with a printer/CRT via RS-
232 cable (using Port 2 or, if properly jumper-configured, both Port 1 and Port 2).
l
Port 1 consists of daughter card DB-25 connector P3 or motherboard terminals TBl-4 thru TBl-8; Port 2 consists
of daughter card DB-25 connector P4 or motherboard terminals TB2-1 thru TB2-5.
Component Locations and Functions (Figure 22)
LED1
Lights when there is a trouble associated with the board.
The 740-684 programmable EPROM contains the card’s program.
SW1 -1 = BAUD rate select switch.
SW1 -2 thru SW1 -8 = Card address select switches
l
Identical in function to Switches SW1 -2 through SW1 -8 in an 8-Zone Monitor Card.
Board Confiuuration
The RS-232/2120 Interface board can be configured two different ways:
l
To provide a connection to the 2120 communications line on Port 1 via the motherboard or RS-232 Connector P3
and P4.
l
To connect serial printers on Port 1 or Port 2 via the motherboard or RS-232 Connector P3 and P4.
PROM Size Jumpers
Jl or J2 = Jl if U14 is a 256K EPROM (for example, a 27C256 EPROM); J2 if U14 is a 512K EPROM (for example,
a 27C512 EPROM).
