9.9 Surgery with saline solution (NaCl)
Preparations on the unit
• Hook the NaCl bottle (1) in place.
• Attach the peristaltic pump hose set (2).
• Push the short end of the hose (3) with the cannula
through the stopper and into the NaCl bottle as illus-
trated.
• The regulator in the hose clip (4) must be in the top-
most position (completely open).
• Run the long hose (5) along the corresponding mo-
tor hose up to the contra-angle handpiece and fas-
ten it with the clips (6).
• Fit the coupling (7) onto the hose and connect it with
the thin silicone hose (8).
• Connect the spray clip (9) with the thin hose and
attach it to the contra-angle handpiece.
The one-way NaCl pump must be secured with a cap
after it is attached to the drive (10). Only then is proper
operation of the pump guaranteed.
Ensure that when securing the cap (10) and the pump (2)
a gap of approx. 1mm is maintained.
The safety cap is provided with every one-way pump.
Pump hose set
The peristaltic pump hose set (2) is a single use
device and can be purchased in packs of 10 pcs. as con-
sumable material under article number F 57370 directly
from the manufacturer.
Holder preselection for the instrument with saline solu-
tion is described in section "Mode: NACL PUMP OFF or
ON for instrument holder .." on page 66.
The pump flow rate must be at least 70ml/min for rea-
sons of safe cooling and to prevent a pressure rise in the
hose (risk of bursting). This is not always given when
using third-party ultrasonic tips.
