Figure 54: The Accurate Polar Alignment workflow.
Once a telescope has been set up, roughly aligned with the pole, and calibrated, TPoint’s Super Model
determines the mount’s polar misalignment in the TPoint Polar Alignment Report. The “closed loop
feedback” of the Accurate Polar Alignment procedure ensures an accurate alignment.
After verifying there is sufficient pointing calibration data, the Accurate Polar Alignment wizard instructs
you to identify a star located near the meridian, in the north or south, and then center this star in the
eyepiece. Once this step is confirmed, the wizard performs an offset slew based on the TPoint polar
misalignment, so that the star can be re-centered using the mount’s mechanical polar alignment
adjusters.
