External scripts or third-party automation applications can customize the post-park behavior by
calling the desired parking method above. For more information about scripted operation, see
“Script TheSky” documentation at www.bisque.com/scriptthesky.
Parking Notes
• When connecting to a parked Paramount from TheSky, the Unpark is issued automatically. If a
non-Paramount mount was parked using TheSky’s Park command, it must be unparked first. On
the Telescope window, click Startup, Unpark to do so.
• When unparked, the park position is not used to initialize the mount.
Defining the Park Position
Before the Paramount can be parked, a park position must be defined. The Paramount’s park position is
an absolute mechanical orientation the mount slews to when the Park command is issued.
1. Click Telescope, Connect to connect to the Paramount if necessary.
2. From the Telescope window, click Shutdown, Set Park Position. When prompted to use the
current telescope position as the park position, click Yes.
The park position needs to be set once, and the mount is slewed there each time the Park command is
issued.
Parking from TheSky Professional
To park the mount:
1. Click Telescope, Connect to connect to the Paramount if necessary.
2. From the Telescope window, click Shutdown, Park. The mount immediately slews to the park
position.
Unparking the Paramount
By default, when TheSky is connected to a parked Paramount, the mount is automatically unparked so
that it can be homed.
Advanced Unpark Option
To prevent TheSky from automatically unparking the mount upon connection, open the current Imaging
System Profile (by default, it is named ImagingSystem.ini) using a text editor. Under [MKSDRIVER0],
add the line UnparkOnConnect=0, then save the text file. The next time TheSky connects to the
Paramount, you will be prompted to unpark the mount. To unpark the mount, from Telescope window
click Tools pop-up menu, Shut Down (or Start Up), Unpark.
