1. Playback System Check
1-1. Preparation for Playback
1) Set the POWER switch to the VTR (or PLAYER) position.
2) Connect the adjustment remote commander and set the HOLD
switch to the ON (SERVICE) position.
3) Playback the BIST check tape. (XH5-6 (NTSC), XH5-6P (PAL))
Note: Perform all of the following checks in the playback mode.
1-2. IC1900 (TRX) BIST (PB) Check
1) Select page: 3, address: 12, set data: 04, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
2) Select page: 3, address: 12, set data: 00, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
3) Select page: 3, address: 13, set data: 02, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
4) When the playback system from IC1900 (TRX) to IC1601
(TDF) is normal, the display data (combination data) of page:
3, addresses: 16 and 17 agree with any combination as shown
below.

PAL model
1-3. IC1601 (TFD), BIST (PB) Check
1) Select page: 3, address: 40, set data: 0F, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
2) Select page: 3, address: 40, set data: 00, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
3) When the playback system from IC1601 (TFD) to IC1600
(SFD) is normal, the display data (combination data) of page:
3, addresses: 41 and 42 agrees with any combination as shown
below.

1) Select page: 0, address: 01, and set data: 01.
2) Select page: C, address: AC, set data: 21, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
3) Select page: C, address: AD, set data: 03, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
Note: Perform the following data setting while playing back the BIST
check tape.
4) Select page: 3, address: 11, set data: 04, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
5) Select page: 3, address: 12, set data: 08, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
6) Select page: 3, address: 12, set data: 00, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
7) Select page: 3, address: 13, set data: 03, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
8) When the playback system from IC1600 (SFD) to IC2003
(ADC&DAC) is normal, the display data (combination data)
of page: 3, addresses: 14 and 15 agrees with any combination
as shown below.

9) When the playback system from IC1600 (SFD) to IC1602 (LIP)
is normal, the display data (combination data) of page: 3,
addresses: 16 and 17 agrees with any combination as shown
below.

10) When the playback system from IC1600 (SFD) to IC1601
(TDF) is normal, the display data (combination data) of page:
3, addresses: 18 and 19 agrees with any combination as shown
below.

11) When the playback system from IC1600 (SFD) to IC1501
(VFD) is normal, the display data (combination data) of page:
3, addresses: 1A and 1B agrees with any combination as shown
below.

12) Select page: C, address: AC, set data: 20, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
13) Select page: C, address: AD, set data: 02, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjustment remote commander.
14) Select page: 0, address: 01, and set data: 00.
