3-24 ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM
LOW OIL PRESSURE CAUTION SYSTEM
CONDITION:
Immediate activation of the system when the oil pressure switch turns “ON” due to an engine oil pressure
drop below 1.0 kg/cm
2
(100 kPa, 14 psi).
ACTION:
Automatically reduced to approx. 3000 r/min by intermittent fuel injection and ignition
signals if the system is activated at 3000 r/min or higher.
“OIL” lamp lights continuously.
“REV-LIMIT” lamp lights continuously during engine speed rev-limiter activation.
Sounds in a series of long (1.5 sec) beeps.

RESET:
Stop the engine and check the engine oil level. Refill the engine oil to the correct level if below the low oil
mark.
If the engine oil level is correct, the following causes may be considered:
• Improper oil viscosity.
• Malfunctioning oil pressure switch.
• Clogged oil strainer or oil filter.
• Worn oil pump relief valve.
• Oil leakage from oil passage.
• Excessive wear / damage of oil pump.
NOTE:
The low oil pressure caution system is reset when the oil pressure is restored to over 1.0 kg/cm
2
with approx.
3000 r/min or less engine speed operation.
However, the engine must be stopped and checked immediately once the system is activated.
