3. EQUIPMENT OPERATING PRINCIPLE
3.1 OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The generator is mechanically connected to the ywheel; the ywheel is directly connected to the
handlebar (through the chain) and to the fan: when the athlete pulls the handlebar, the ywheel
rotates and transmits the movement to the generator;
The generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.
The RPM and electrical signals enter in the Low Kit. The Low Kit adjusts the variable input volta-
ge in order to have always a xed output of +5V, for the console U-I. The Low Kit distributes the
energy between the console U-I and the baery. In this case the Low Kit recharges the baery.
The voltage produced by the generator is about 50V if the user rows fast.
The voltage produced by the generator is about 10V if the user rows slowly.
If the voltage produced by the generator is insucient, in the long term the equipment is not ener-
getically self-sucient: the baery discharges if it always provides voltage to low kit, in order to
produce +5V for the console U-I. In this case we recommends customers to use the external power
supply. For details see “3.2.6 external power supply”.
3.1.1 TRAINING MODES
Two workouts can be performed on the product, depending of the levels set with the knob:
- a ROWING workout (normal levels);
- a POWER workout (magnetic levels).
Figure 6: knob (mode regulator)
ROWING MODE
In ROWING mode: turn the knob to adjust the quantity of intake air; this has an impact on the
sensation of the rowing, not on the intensity. The intensity of the eort depends on the exercise
itself: if you pull stronger, you perceive more resistance. Turning the knob in the ROWING zone
changes the rowing sensation.
