Fig.: Cable test, general setup
Start test
1. Connect the ‘cable tester transmitter’ to the one side of the
cable which has to be tested and connect the ‘cable tester
receiver’ to the other side. (Several interfaces or interpreter
desks can be in between the cable testers to check the
complete line).
2. Turn the slide switch of the ‘cable tester transmitter’ on.
3. If everything is OK, the LEDs of the power lines are on.
(LEDs of lines 6/7 flash, or LEDs of lines 8/9 are on)
4. If you push the Start button, the LEDs of the signal lines
should illuminate one by one. The sensitivity possibly has
to be tuned with the turn switch.
5. If all this is passed without errors, then the cable is OK.
Turn the slide switch off.
Tracing errors
Following table provides an overview of the tracing errors that can
occur.
Code: K=illuminate, K*= illuminate together, P=illuminate
sometimes (puls), 1=ON, 0=OFF
Remark: At S minimum (=minimum sensitivity), a led test is done.
