The first booth is assigned to the English language, this means that
its A channel is assigned to ENG. The second booth is assigned the
French language, so its A channel is assigned to FRE and the third
booth is assigned to the German language so its A channel will be
GER.
Next to the A channel there is also a B channel. The B channel of
each booth and therefore each desk can have another language
assigned to it. This language depends on the preferences of the
interpreter as he can choose his desired language.
If the interpreter knows more than one language, i.e. the interpreter
understands ands speaks English, German and French; then he’ll be
able to translate to each of these languages. This means that even
though the A channel of a booth is fixed to a specific language, he
will be able to translate to the other languages on the B channel.
Configuration
The Configuration menu allows you to make a interpreter desk
configuration, select a booth and alter the settings for that booth.
The settings that can be altered are the Language, the Auto-floor
and the B-channel. When you alter the settings of a booth you have
to remember to save the settings for each booth. At the end of a
configuration you can choose to save the interpretation
configuration. Not saving the settings or exit at the end leaves the
current configuration unchanged.
A logical order of setting up the interpreter system is as follows:
1. Define the number of booths needed
2. Define the number of desks installed per booth
3. Define the number of channels (languages) that are going to
be used
4. Assign a language to each channel
5. Use the "Booth Config" menu item to set up each booth
6. Save configuration by using the "4 Save Config" menu
item. Always save the configuration for a proper use of the
interpretation system.
These "Options" can be set using the options menu items.
