4WD SOLENOID TEST
The 4WD control valve shifts the LF-1880 from two-
wheel drive to four-wheel drive. The solenoid valve is
mounted on the control valve and is used to shift the
control valve. The control valve is mounted on the
frame below and to the rear of the engine.
The solenoid valve can be tested using the following
procedure.
1. Shut down the engine, release the parking brake
and place the 4WD switch in the 4WD position.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness connector between
the solenoid valve and wiring harness.
3. Connect the red test lead to the wiring harness
connector brown/yellow wire and the black test
lead to the black wire (Figure 10I-9).
The multimeter should indicate battery voltage. If
no voltage is indicated, connect the black test lead
to the battery negative terminal and red test lead
to the solenoid red wire to check solenoid ground
connection. If no voltage is indicated, check the
wiring harness circuit using the electrical schemat-
ics in Section 10Q.
4. Set the multimeter to 200
Ω.
5. Connect the test leads to the solenoid socket.
The multimeter should indicate approximately
5.1
Ω.
If coil is not within range, replace coil.
If there is no voltage indication on the multimeter,
replace coil.
