0.004inchofbearingshimstotheoriginalshimpackthickness.
Note:Thefollowinginformationisprovidedtohelpyouunderstandthe
adjustmentrequiredforproperengagementofnewringandpiniongears.
Toensureproperengagement,anadditionalnumberisetchedintothe
buttonendofeachpiniongear.Thisnumberindicatesmodications
thatmustbemadetothepiniontoringgeardistanceforeachparticular
gearset.Thisdistanceiscontrolledbyaddingorremovingshimsbehind
theinnerbearingcup.
Apiniongearetched0isconsideredstandard,andhasa1.210inches
piniontoringgeardistance.
Apiniongearetched+3requiresapiniontoringgeardistanceof1.213
inches(+0.003inchfromstandard).Removing0.003inchofbearing
shimsmovesthepiniongearawayfromtheringgear,increasingthe
piniontoringgeardistance.
Apiniongearetched-3requiresapiniontoringgeardistanceof1.207
inches(-0.003inchfromstandard).Adding0.003inchofbearingshims
movesthepiniongearclosertotheringgear,decreasingthepinionto
