TheenginespeedswitchisusedasaninputfortheTECtosignaltheengine
ECUviatheCAN-bustoincreaseordecreasetheenginespeed.Whenthe
switchispressedandheldintheforwardposition,theenginespeedwillincrease.
Conversely,whentherearoftheswitchispressed,theenginespeedwill
decrease.Theenginespeedswitchislocatedonthecontrolarm(Figure165).
TestingtheEngineSpeedSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdecks,settheparking
brake,andshutofftheengine.
2.Beforeyoudisconnecttheenginespeedswitchfortesting,ensurethatyou
testtheswitchanditscircuitwiringasTECinputwiththeInfoCenterdisplay;
refertoUsingtheInfoCenterDisplayforTroubleshooting(page5–26).
3.IftheInfoCenterveriesthattheenginespeedswitchandcircuitwiringare
functioningcorrectly,nofurtherswitchtestingisnecessary.
4.IftheInfoCenterdeterminesthattheenginespeedswitchandcircuitwiring
arenotfunctioningcorrectly,proceedwiththetest.
5.Removethecontrolarmcoverstogetaccesstotheenginespeedswitch;
refertoDisassemblingtheControlArm(page6–24).
6.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.Disconnectthewireharness
electricalconnectorfromtheenginespeedswitch.
7.TheenginespeedswitchterminalsareidentiedinFigure166andthe
circuitryoftheswitchisshownintheCircuitLogicT able(page5–56).With
theuseofamultimeter(ohmssetting),testtheswitchfunctionstodetermine
ifcontinuityexistsbetweenthevariousterminalsforeachswitchposition.
Checkthecontinuitybetweentheswitchterminals.
