Theparkingbrakeswitchisanormallyopenproximityswitch.Theparkingbrake
switchisattachedtothebottomofthebrakepedal(Figure152).
Whentheparkingbrakeisnotset,theparkingbrakedetentispositionednear
thetargetendoftheparkingbrakeswitchsothattheswitchisclosed.The
parkingbrakedetentismovedawayfromtheswitchwhentheparkingbrakeis
setcausingtheswitchtoopen.
AdjustingtheParkingBrakeSwitch
1.Whentheparkingbrakeisnotset,thegapbetweentheparkingbrakeswitch
andthetabontheparkingbrakedetentshouldbe1.8to3.3mm(0.07to
0.13inch).
2.Ifgapisincorrect,loosenthejamnutsthatsecuretheswitchtothebrake
pedal.Positiontheswitchwithjamnutstoallowcorrectgapbetweenthe
switchandthedetenttab.Tightenthejamnutstosecuretheadjustment.
Torquethejamnutsto18to22N∙m(159to195in-lb).Afterthejamnuts
aretightened,ensurethatclearancebetweentheheadoftheparkingbrake
switchandthetabontheparkingbrakedetenthasnotchanged.
3.Afteradjustmenttotheparkingbrakeswitch,usetheInfoCenterdisplayto
verifythattheparkingbrakeswitchandcircuitwiringarefunctioningcorrectly;
refertoUsingtheInfoCenterDisplayforTroubleshooting(page5–26).
