time,adeckmotorcanwearinternally.Thistestmeasurescasedrainvolume
whilerestrictingowacrossthemotorports.Casedrainvolumeunderloadof
morethan9%oftotalmotorowindicatesthegearsandwearplatesinthe
motorhaveworn.Awornmotormaybypassthehydraulicuidtoitscasedrain
causingthemotortobelessefcient.Eventually,enoughuidlosswillcausethe
deckmotortostallunderheavycuttingconditions.Continuedoperationwitha
worn,inefcientmotorcangenerateexcessiveheat,causedamagetosealsand
othercomponentsinthehydraulicsystem,andaffectqualityofcut.
Onemethodtondafailingormalfunctioningcuttingdeckmotoristohave
anotherpersonobservethemachinewhilemowingindenseturf.Abadmotor
willrunslower,producefewerclippingsandmaycauseadifferentappearance
ontheturf.
