Theparkingbrakeswitchisanormallyopenproximityswitch.Theparkingbrake
switchisattachedtothebottomofthebrakepedal(Figure174).
Themachineisequippedwithaninterlockswitchontheparkingbrake.The
engineshutsoffifthetractioncontrolpedalismovedfromtheNEUTRALposition
withtheparkingbrakeengaged.RefertotheCheckingtheInterlockSwitchesin
theTractionUnitOperator’sManual.
Whentheparkingbrakeisnotset,theparkingbrakedetentispositionednear
thetargetendoftheparkingbrakeswitchsothattheswitchisclosed.The
parkingbrakedetentismovedawayfromtheswitchwhentheparkingbrakeis
setcausingtheswitchtoopen.
TheT oroElectronicController(TEC)monitorstheoperationoftheparking
brakeswitch.
TestingtheParkingBrakeSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdecks,settheparking
brake,andshutofftheengine.
2.Beforeyoudisconnecttheparkingbrakeswitchfortesting,ensurethat
youtesttheswitchanditscircuitwiringasaTECelectricalinputwiththe
InfoCenterdisplay;refertoUsingtheInfoCenterDisplayforTroubleshooting
(page5–26).
3.Iftheinputtestingveriesthattheparkingbrakeswitchandcircuitwiringare
functioningcorrectly,nofurtherparkingbrakeswitchtestingisnecessary.
4.Iftheinputtestingdeterminesthattheparkingbrakeswitchandcircuitwiring
arenotfunctioningcorrectly,proceedwiththetest.
5.Locatetheparkingbrakeswitch(Figure174).
Note:Ensurethattheparkingbrakeisnotset.
6.TurnthekeyswitchtotheRUNposition(donotstarttheengine)andcheck
theLEDonthecableendoftheparkingbrakeswitch.TheLEDshouldbe
illuminatedwhentheparkingbrakeisnotset.
