3-2 Model 3022A Condensation Particle Counter
Warmup Mode
On power-up, after the initialization sequence, the CPC displays
WARM-UP XXX (where XXX is the warm-up period in seconds) and
counts down to zero. During warm-up, the CPC does not display
concentration values or total counts, but all other functions are
accessible.
Since the warm-up period ends when all temperatures and the
laser power have reached normal operating levels, the period may
end before the 600 seconds have elapsed. If normal operating
conditions are not reached within the 600-second countdown, the
CPC simply remains in the warm-up mode without further
countdown.
After warm-up, the CPC displays a value for concentration or total
counts; the pump is either off or on, just as it was when the
instrument was last switched off.
Primary Functions
Primary functions are accessed from the front panel’s five
pushbuttons. They are identified by the labels above the buttons:
Pump, Display, Total, Clear, and Range.
Pump
Use this button to switch the pump on or off. The flow level is
indicated by three symbols and their indicator lights: the plus sign
(+), the word FLOW, and the minus sign (–). The yellow (+) and (–)
lights indicate that the flow is too high or too low respectively. The
green Flow light means that the sensor flow is 5 ±0.5 cm
3
/s, if the
flowmeter has been calibrated accurately.
To display the flow value, use the Status
button (described below
under “Secondary Functions”). Both the flow and a measure of the
pump voltage can be monitored with the analog output on the back
panel (see Chapter 4).
