CHAPTER 8
Computer Interface
and Commands
8-1
This chapter gives computer interface and communication
information for the Model 3022A Condensation Particle Counter
(CPC) as well as a transcript of the BASIC program provided with
the CPC.
Computer Interface
This section gives the hardware connection information for the
Model 3022A CPC and an IBM-compatible computer.
Pin Connectors
The Model 3022A Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) has one
9-pin, D-type subminiature connector on the back panel labeled
COM PORT. An external computer, if used, should be connected to
COM PORT (shown in Figure 8-1). If more than one CPC is used,
each CPC must be connected to a separate COM port on the
computer.
The communications port is configured at the factory to work with
RS-232-type devices. RS-232
is a popular communications
standard supported by many mainframe computers and most
personal computers. Figure 8-1 shows the connector pins on the
COM PORT; Table 8-1 lists the signal connections.
Note: This pin configuration is not
compatible with earlier TSI serial
cables. The connections have been changed in this instrument
to allow compatibility with the standard IBM AT-style serial
cables.
