The pressure drop of the CPC capillary is approximately
1.2 centimeters of water at 5.0 cm
3
/s. The pressure drop for each
instrument varies according to the actual diameter of the capillary
tube, its length, and surface roughness. The temperature of the
tube is held constant because it is next to the heat-controlled
saturator block. This keeps the dimensions of the tube stable.
Pump
The compact pump is an oil-free rotary pump with eight carbon
vanes. It uses a DC
motor and is nearly pulsation-free. The
components that come in contact with the air are corrosion-
resistant materials.
