CHAPTER 9
Maintenance and
Service
9-1
Regular maintenance of your CPC will help ensure years of useful
operation. The frequency of service depends on the frequency of use
and the cleanliness of the air measured. This section describes how
to check and service some components of the CPC.
Changing the Filters
There are three filters inside the CPC. Change them at regular
intervals (depending on use) or whenever they become dirty,
clogged, or wet.
HEPA Filter
The large HEPA filter collects particles from the combination of
sample flow and either bypass airflow or makeup airflow before the
flow enters the pump. The filter has a very large surface area for
collecting the particles and need not be changed very often.
To change the filter, remove the top cabinet cover and pull the filter
out of its holding clips. Remove the two end fittings and replace
them on a new filter. Make sure that the connections are leak-tight.
To order replacement HEPA filters, use TSI part number 1602051;
or, you can order HEPA capsule filters (no. 12144) directly from the
manufacturer:
Gelman Sciences, Inc.
600 S. Wagner Road
Ann Arbor, MI 48106 / USA
Telephone: (313) 665-0651
Telex: 810-223-6037
Tube Filter
The tube filter is in the sensor housing, surrounded by foam
insulation. It filters out particles from the sample air after passing
by the optical detector and before reaching the capillary flowmeter.
