3-12 Model 3022A Condensation Particle Counter
There are two methods of drying the counter:
First Method
1. Disconnect the working fluid supply bottle.
2. Drain the CPC. Use the drain bottle (provided) and put the
instrument in drain mode.
3. Switch on the pump and run dry air through the counter for 24
to 48 hours.
Second Method
A disadvantage of this method is the CPC may develop leaks due to
the disassembly process.
1. Disconnect the working fluid supply bottle.
2. Drain the CPC. Use the drain bottle (provided) and put the
instrument in drain mode.
3. Remove the wick from the reservoir. To do so, refer to
Figures 3-3 and 3-4 and follow these steps:
a. Remove the top and bottom covers.
b. Disconnect the Swagelok tee-fitting and inlet tubes.
c. Remove the four screws from the saturator’s end-plate.
When removing the end plate, be careful not to damage the
fragile glass-coated level sensor screwed into the end-plate.
d. Pull the wick from within the saturator.
e. Either ship the instrument without the wick, dry the wick
and reinstall it, or else install a new wick.
f. Replace the wick with the cut-away facing downward to
clear the liquid level sensor.
g. Reassemble the end-plate and inlet tubes.
