14 Getting to know the OpenScape Desk Phone
1 You can make and receive calls as normal using the handset.

The display provides intuitive support for telephone operation (two lines with up to 33
characters each).

The function keys (cannot be reprogrammed) allow you to call up the following frequently
used functions during a call:
Messages: Open the mailbox Page 17.
Settings: Open the menu Page 19.
Speaker: Activate/deactivate the speakerphone function.
Headset: Activate/deactivate the headset function.
Vol.+ and Vol.-: Increase/reduce the volume of the loudspeaker/headset; set the contrast light-
er and darker.
Mute: Activate/deactivate the microphone. This function is useful to prevent the other party
from listening in under certain circumstances, for example when consulting with someone
else in the room or in case of annoying background noise.
Transfer: Transfer a call to another subscriber.
Conference: Enable access to the conference functions.
Hold: Hold or retrieve the active call.

You can use the navigation keys to open the idle menu Page 16 for example or to scroll
forward or back in menus or execute an action.
5 The dialpad can be used to enter phone numbers and write text.

Depending on how they are programmed, you can use the keys as follows:
Function keys
Repdial/Direct station selection key
Each key can be programmed with one function. You can also use the preassigned functions:
Release Call
Redial
Call List
7 Incoming calls and new voicemails are visually signaled via the call display.
