6.4. Contamination measurement procedure
Avoid contact of sharp objects with the sensitive area of the detectors. The aluminized light-
tight foil can be damaged through the protective grid of the detectors, with the subsequent
possible damage to the photomultiplier.
With standard operation, the monitor is permanently measuring and evaluating the background level in the
meantime between measurements of individuals. When a sensor (for hands or feet, possibly by removing the
frisker) detects the presence of a measured person, the measurement of the background will be interrupted
and the voice and picture wizard for measurement will be started.
Exceeding of limit values is indicated by light and sound.
The instrument is ready for measurement if the basic screen is shown on the monitor and if only the green
indicator is lit (Chapter 6.3).
When the instrument is equipped with an ID card reader, you will be prompted to use the
identification card when taking the measurement position; hold your ID card near the ID card
reader.
Take the measurement position. Step directly on the foot detectors so that your shoe tips are
touching the stops and so that any part of the shoes is not surpassing the detector area.
Slide your hands between the hand detectors, activating the mechanical stop sensor with your
fingertips.
When assuming the position, follow the visual and voice instructions prompting you to take the
correct measurement position (Fig. 18).
